Whale and dolphin charity ORCA and international ferry operator DFDS have been working together for over a decade to study the wildlife of the North Sea.

2018 sees the start of the eleventh year of our ground-breaking initiative to place ORCA Wildlife Officers on board DFDS ferries sailing across the wildlife rich waters of the North Sea between March and September. Working on board the KING Seaways, sailing between Newcastle and Amsterdam, our Wildlife Officers Kelly de Vries and Ingrid Peters continue to be a huge hit with the passengers on board.

Our Wildlife Officers offer a suite of exciting activities onboard, including deck watches for wildlife, children’s activities, quizzes and lectures. They have encountered leaping dolphins, magnificent whales, porpoises, seals, soaring birds of prey and diving gannets; but don’t take our word for it, read their fascinating blogs to find out more!
