Newcastle to Stavanger (24th – 26th August 2008)
I would like to use this blog to thank all the crew onboard the DFDS “Queen of Scandinavia” for a great summer! Beth and I could never have managed to do a good job if it wasn’t for these great and supportive people onboard the ship. The cruise managers have looked after us well from the start, and have been very patient while Beth and I experimented on where and when to best do the presentations! The Food and beverage manager gave us our very own conference room to keep for the whole summer which was great as we could turn this into the ORCA room with all our books and drawings from the kids.
A big thank you to the captain and his crew on the bridge that allowed us to come up there whenever we wanted so that we could hide away a little during bad weather and enjoy the view from up there during some beautiful late summer evenings. Thank you to the crew in general for cheering us up with some fantastic stories about flying fish and enormous whales of Greenland! And many thanks to the cruise managers and DFDS for donating some fantastic prizes that we used for our raffles to raise money for the conservation of the marine environment. We will both miss you all very much!
