Newcastle to Bergen (21st – 24th August 2008)
I think there has been a secret convention on the ship these last few days. There seems to be a gathering of young and upcoming artists onboard, and they have covered the remaining walls in the ORCA conference room with some of the most fantastic art I’ve ever seen! There are now artistic interpretations of whales, basking sharks, hagfish, mermaids, puffer fish, gannets and great white sharks all over the room.
And great posters with “Save the dolphins” on. The young artists even turned the storytime session into an art workshop to create some more wonderful art for us. They even spent the time on their own to draw and colour in to bring with them to the activity hours!
We are now very content as we pretty much cannot fit another drawing on the walls! Every time I have some time on my own I sit down and look at them as they are just so fantastic, and I sit there and laugh to myself! A great thank you to all the children that have attended the activity hours on the “Queen of Scandinavia” this summer! Beth and myself have loved every second of it!
ORCA / DFDS Seaways Wildlife Officer Grethe Hillersøy thanks the crew of the Queen of Scandinavia for an amazing summer!
